A week ago, I made this chocolate cake, which comes out of Lorraine Pascal’s ‘Fast, Fresh and Easy Food’ recipe book. It is made out of chocolate sponge, is covered with chocolate buttercream and is covered with Maltesers.
The recipe was surprisingly easy to make – it involved putting all the ingredients for the sponge into an electric mixer (which I was initially a little sceptical about, as I usually just gradually add my eggs into the mixture so the mixture does not curdle). Despite my worries about curdling, the sponge was fine. I then made some chocolate buttercream, spread it onto the chocolate cake and stuck Maltesers into the buttercream.
